Division 6 Audits

The Division 6 Asbestos Audit typically includes a Hazardous Building Materials Audit to identify the presence of:

This process involves a destructive/invasive audit conducted prior to demolition or refurbishment. At Scaada Environmental & Sustainability, we also review the existing Division 5 Asbestos Register to ensure it is current and investigate previously inaccessible areas, including ceilings and subfloors. If a current asbestos register exists and a Division 6 Audit is required for the same building before major works, the process is typically faster and more cost-effective.

Division 5 Audits

The Division 5 Survey offered by Scaada Environmental & Sustainability is a non-invasive survey tailored for operating workplaces. It identifies the presence of asbestos, conducts a risk assessment, and creates an asbestos register for the site. This survey provides critical information to occupants to control the risk of exposure to airborne asbestos. Our auditors will identify any inaccessible areas likely to contain asbestos and assess whether the asbestos-containing materials in the workplace may be subject to damage or disturbance. An Asbestos Register is mandatory for all workplaces and must be reviewed at least every five years or after significant removal works.

Asbestos Visual Clearances

An asbestos visual clearance certificate occurs after asbestos testing and verifies that all visible asbestos has been removed from the site.

Depending on the Workplace Health & Safety Regulation in the specified state or territory, an asbestos clearance certificate is generally required when the amount of asbestos removed exceeds 10 square metres.

Scaada’s licensed asbestos assessors are highly skilled and experienced in visual clearance inspections. If the condition of the asbestos removed from the site is considered poor or friable, the team may recommend air monitoring and dust analysis to verify that all airborne asbestos fibres have been safely extracted.

Employees, contractors or other individuals may not enter the removal site until an asbestos clearance certificate has been issued. During this time, any physical restrictions and caution signage should remain in place until the final clearance certificate has been supplied.
