Soil Contamination
Soil contamination is typically encountered on sites used for previous industrial, commercial and agricultural purposes. In most cases, the soil has been contaminated by hazardous substances. As a result, the soil may pose a risk to human health through direct ingestion of soil particles or, if volatile, through volatilisation and entry into buildings or, if leachable, through groundwater systems.
Asbestos soil contamination
As with other contaminants, asbestos soil contamination may pose existing and future implications. If asbestos contamination is suspected, Scaada will conduct a thorough site assessment and soil testing to evaluate:
- Condition of asbestos containing material
- Extent of asbestos contamination
- Depth of asbestos (surface level or buried at a depth)
- Current and future uses of the affected land and potential risk to human health
