SCAADA Environmental Division engineered a process that took our clients site water from 400 NTU to 25 NTU in five days.
Our Client was faced with site holding in excess of 20,000,000 m3 of run-off water during civil construction activities. The water discharge site into natural waterways was inaccessible without significant re-work to constructed areas. Cost and schedule pressure were critical to the project.
Due to the nature of the site, there was opportunity to use nearby natural waterways as discharge swale drains. The Scaada team identified the opportunity to use natural process to clean the site water prior to discharge. The swale drains were lined with eco-friendly retention meshing, hydro-seeded and a waterway was developed to allow stored water to flow into a cleaning pillow then into the swale drain. Over the following 5 days NTU was reduced by nearly 150 times its initial readings.
The entire project completed for less than $100,000.
